Side tables and end tables are very similar. In general, side tables tend to be slightly larger than end tables and are often used as bedside tables or to display ornaments and photos.

End tables can be placed next to sofas and armchairs to provide somewhere safe for drinks and food to be put down. They often have a strong design element and, although small, can have a big impact on the look of a room.

Here are some key things to consider when choosing a side table:

• Height: It's important to measure how high the armrest of your sofa is so that the height of the side table is about equal or at least not much higher than the armrest.
