We’re B Corp Certified—Better Furniture, Better Living

Sue-Jane | Apr 15, 2026

Becoming B Corp certified is one of those milestones that change how you show up, not just what you say. It reflects a more deliberate way of working; one that holds us accountable for how we design, build, ship, and stand behind every piece that enters your home.

So if you’ve been wondering what is a B Corp, or what B Corp certification really says about a company like ours, this is the story behind it, told the way we know best: grounded in real living, not showroom perfection.

What is a B Corp, and why should it matter to you?

At its simplest, a B Corp is a business that’s been independently assessed on how it performs across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. It looks at the full picture, from how a company is run to how it treats people, sources materials, and manages its environmental impact.

It’s less about what a company claims to value, and more about whether those values hold up when someone actually checks.

It asks a simple, uncomfortable question: If someone looked closely at how we do things, would we still stand by it?

We wanted the answer to be yes.

That’s what B Corp certification does. It gives structure to something that’s usually vague, like “doing better,” and turns it into something measurable, comparable, and accountable.

What this looks like in practice

It’s one thing to understand what a B Corp is. It’s another to see how that thinking actually shapes a company.

For us, becoming B Corp wasn’t just about ticking boxes. It started with setting the rules we live by. We started by putting in place the governance, policies, and accountability structures that a company of our size and scope needs. That meant ensuring all suppliers were aligned with clear standards, onboarding checks, and legal agreements, and setting measurable targets across operations, sourcing, and climate impact.

We also took a hard look at how we measure ourselves: from responsible timber sourcing, to reducing packaging waste, to leading on climate reporting and carbon neutrality in our direct operations.

It was about proving that our values—care for people, the planet, and every hand involved—weren’t just words on a page.

Only after building this foundation could we translate it into the things you bring into your home. Our B Corp certification isn’t an afterthought; it’s reflected in the decisions behind every piece, from design and materials to testing and delivery.

Here’s how that work shows up in the furniture you live with every day.

Designed to last, your first and forever sofa

Our goal has always been to create furniture you won’t feel the need to replace. Pieces that work, look good, and feel right years down the line.

That’s where longevity stops being a design preference and starts becoming a responsibility.

We lean into it in practical ways: Modular designs that adapt as your life shifts, removable covers that make maintenance manageable, materials tested for durability, and construction that allows for repair before replacement.

It sounds straightforward, but it means designing against the idea that furniture is disposable, which is harder than it looks.

Safe for your family, day in and day out

Furniture is something you interact with constantly, often without realizing it. You sit, lie down, rest against it, and over time, it becomes part of your daily life.

That’s why it needs to be safe in a way you can trust, without second-guessing.

That’s why our commitment to B Corp certification extends to every material we use. Our rugs are 100% OEKO-TEX® certified, our foams meet CertiPUR-US® standards, and our TENCEL™ fibers are sourced responsibly. Each choice ensures that what surrounds you day after day is safe from harmful chemicals for you, your family, and the planet.

Because comfort isn’t just softness, it’s also the peace of mind that comes from knowing the furniture in your home has been designed and made with care.

Responsibly sourced, easier on your conscience

Every piece of furniture has a starting point, long before it reaches your home. Knowing it was made responsibly changes how you live with it. It lets you settle in fully, without questioning where it came from or how it was made.

We’ve made a point to stay close to that process. That means working with verified sources for timber, ensuring materials are legally and responsibly obtained, and partnering with suppliers who meet clear labor standards. It’s not a one-off check, but something we continue to monitor and refine.

Because how something is made doesn’t disappear once it arrives at your doorstep. It becomes part of the story you live with.

Reducing waste one decision at a time

Waste doesn’t sit in one place. It shows up across packaging, returns, excess materials, and the things that don’t quite make it.

We’ve been approaching it with more intention, focusing on using 30% less Styrofoam in one year, recycling 100% of our corrugated cardboard, and diverting roughly 50% of returned products from landfill. Every choice is small on its own, but together they add up.

Some of the more interesting progress comes from rethinking what waste can be. Through collaborations with artists and partners, including Tanchen and Mercedes-Benz, Re-Store, and Wastd, materials that would have been discarded are given a second life, shifting the narrative from disposal to reuse.

It’s not a complete solution, but it’s a step that feels grounded in reality and one we can measure.

Climate action built into how we operate

Sustainability can feel abstract until you see where it actually lives. For us, it shows up in the small but measurable decisions we make every day.

Across our offices, warehouses, and showrooms, LED lighting and energy-efficient systems help reduce energy use, while our long-term partnership with Maersk allows us to lower shipping emissions across the supply chain. Since 2023, we’ve achieved carbon neutrality for our direct operations (Scope 1 and 2), and cleaner ocean freight alone has cut roughly 5,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

It’s not about a single dramatic gesture. It’s about putting systems in place that consistently reduce our footprint, from operations to logistics, so every piece of furniture we make carries less impact on the planet.

A standard we’ll keep building on

This feels like a milestone, but not in the sense of completion. Becoming B Corp certified gives us a clearer way to keep improving—raising the bar on how we design, source, and operate over time.

Because better living doesn’t stop at your home. It extends into the choices behind what you bring into it, and the kind of companies you choose to trust.

This is one way we’re making sure we’re worth that trust.
