As mattresses and duvets come in different sizes, so do fitted sheets. That’s why you always need to check the size of your mattress and duvet before buying sheets. As a rule, fitted sheets come in single, double, king and super king sizes but the actual dimensions might vary by a few centimeters here or there. Check the labels on your mattress and duvet if you are not sure, or failing that, get the tape measure out and see what size your existing items are. Fitted sheets come with elasticated corners so there will be some stretch and give in the material, but they are only really supposed to fit snugly to the size of mattress for which they were intended.
As well as different sizes, fitted sheets come in a huge selection of different colors, material choices and styles. A fitted sheet is technically the sheet that fits over the mattress, with the elasticated corners providing enough giver to fit snugly and hold tight even when sleeping.
