Sofa bed colors and materials

The sofa bed needs to perform two functions, switching seamlessly between the two and needing to meet the demands of both. That means it has to be made from good quality materials with a smooth mechanism to convert from bed to sofa and back again. If you’ve ever slept (or even just sat) on a cheap sofa bed, then you know that comfort often takes a back seat – so to speak. Too many liberties are taken just to satisfy the function. But that’s not the case with our sofa beds. Not only are they genuinely comfortable seating options, made from wood and steel and with sofa cover finishes in comfort materials like velvet, but you can also get a great night’s sleep on them too.

Style choices for sofa beds

Another area where older style sofa beds often made big compromises was with style. Often small and boxy, or even with exposed mechanisms, they were functional without being beautiful. But here again, we think that there doesn’t have to be anything given on style. Our sofa beds and futons are designed with looks in mind, but can also fold out to make a useful sleeping option. When folded back up they look like any other 3 or 2 seater sofa and can form part of any normal living room set.

Storage and accessories

You can accessorize in the seating mode with stylish sofa cushions to add colours, fabrics and patterns. When folded out for sleeping, invest in good pillows, a quality duvet and even a mattress topper for a better night’s sleep. Sofa beds can sometimes come with built-in storage which means you can keep bedding in a convenient place ready to make up the bed when you need it.

FAQs

Can you sleep on a sofa bed every night?

It depends on the quality of your sofa bed. Some cheaper and less well-designed beds are suitable for very occasional use - the odd night here or there. They aren’t all that comfortable which is not great for getting the sleep that you need. Other better quality sofa beds can be used more regularly, with some even being suitable for use every night, if space really demands it. But it’s generally always better to sleep in a dedicated bed.

What should I look for when buying a sofa bed?

Comfort, comfort and comfort. It’s as simple as that. And not just comfort when you sleep, but also when used as a sofa. Too often sofa beds have sacrificed this function for form. But to really get the most out of your sofa bed, it needs to be a pleasant experience – whatever you use it for. Whether it’s a fabric, velvet or leather sofa – first of all it has to be a nice spot to kick back and relax for a few hours.

How can I make my sofa bed more comfortable?

You can use accessories like sofa cushions and mattress toppers to make your sofa bed more comfortable, with good pillows and a nice duvet also helping to improve sleep.
